What is Fijian and where is it spoken?

Fijian (Vosa Vakaviti) is an Austronesian language of the Oceanic branch, native to Fiji where it is co-official with English and Fiji Hindi. The standard literary form is based on the Bauan dialect. About 640,000 people speak it, though Fiji's overall language situation is highly multilingual with around 300 communalect dialects.

What's unusual about Fijian spelling?

Fijian uses the Latin alphabet, but the letters b, d, g, q are written for prenasalised consonants (mb, nd, ŋg, ŋ-mb in IPA). The single letter c stands for /ð/ as in 'this'. Word order is usually VOS rather than SVO, and pronouns distinguish inclusive vs exclusive 'we' and four numbers (singular, dual, paucal, plural).
