La interlingue es una lengua auxiliar internacional planificada, creada por el lingüista germano-báltico Edgar de Wahl y publicada en 1922 con el nombre de occidental. Se rebautizó como interlingue en 1949 para evitar connotaciones de la Guerra Fría. El objetivo era una lengua que resultara inmediatamente familiar a los hablantes de lenguas europeas, con un vocabulario derivado mediante la «regla de De Wahl» de raíces comunes romances, inglesas, alemanas y latinas.
Aunque los nombres se parecen, la interlingue (1922) y la interlingua (1951) provienen de proyectos distintos. La interlingue usa una derivación de palabras totalmente regular pero naturalista (p. ej. verbos en -er); la interlingua, desarrollada después, prioriza un prototipo internacional sin alterar. La interlingue está documentada en la longeva revista Cosmoglotta y sigue usándose hoy, sobre todo en línea, con una pequeña comunidad fiel.
