El shona (chiShona) es una lengua bantú y la primera lengua más hablada de Zimbabue, con unos 14 millones de hablantes en Zimbabue y Mozambique. La forma escrita estándar se codificó en 1931 (el estándar de Doke) a partir de los grandes dialectos zezuru, karanga, manyika, korekore y ndau. Es una de las 16 lenguas oficiales de Zimbabue.
