El árabe estándar moderno (الفصحى, al-fusha) se usa en las noticias, los libros y la escritura formal de todos los países árabes, mientras que los dialectos hablados (egipcio, levantino, del Golfo, magrebí) varían mucho entre sí. El árabe es categoría IV del FSI, una de las lenguas que más horas requiere.
